Throughout the ages, copper has been used by ancient civilisations that reaped the benefits of its healing powers. The benefits of copper were first recognised by the Egyptians as early as 2600 BC.

Like the Egyptians, the Greeks appreciated the power of copper, too. In ancient Greece, dry copper was sprinkled into the dressings of fresh wounds to prevent infections and inflammation. The Romans used copper to treat venereal diseases and ulcers, and up until the 19th and 20th centuries, our societies used copper to treat conditions like dermatitis, impetigo, and eczema.

The use of copper continued up until 1932, when antibiotics were made commercially available.
